Lifestyle tips for menopausal health

Menopause refers to the final menstrual period. This happens when the ovaries stop releasing eggs and levels of hormones (oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone) fall. Menopause is a natural process, but can also occur as a result of surgery to remove the ovaries, medical treatment, infection, autoimmune conditions and genetic causes. The vast majority of people affected by menopause identify as women. However, menopause also happens to people of differing genders who were assigned female at birth, including transmasculine, intersex and non-binary people.
The average age of menopause in the UK is 51 years of age. Menopause between the ages of 40 and 45 is called early menopause, and is estimated to affect approximately 12% of women in the UK.
In this seminar I will explore lifestyle tips for healthy menopause including nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress reduction. I will also discuss medical interventions including Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and alternative therapies.
