To What Extent is the Lord of the Rings a Christian Story?
This talk may be of interest to any undergraduate or postgraduate students studying either theology or literature, though all are welcome.
Holly Ordway is the Cardinal Francis George Professor of Faith and Culture at the Word on Fire Institute, and Visiting Professor at Houston Christian University in the United States. She holds a PhD in English from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and is a subject editor for the Journal of Inklings Studies. Dr Ordway is the author of the award-winning Tolkien’s Modern Reading: Middle-earth Beyond the Middle Ages (2021) and has contributed chapters on Lewis and Tolkien to volumes such as C. S. Lewis in Poets’ Corner, The Inklings and King Arthur, and C. S. Lewis’s List. Her book Tolkien’s Faith: A Spiritual Biography (2023) was released last September for the fiftieth anniversary of Tolkien’s death.
