Perspectives of Place

A joint seminar series between COMPAS & Kellogg College.

There is no such thing as a generic Global North. It consists of concrete people and places, many of which can hardly be said to represent the prosperity and privilege that tend to be associated with the Global North. This seminar series focuses on people and places in England as sites for thinking about the spatial division of labour and distribution of difference, national and transnational political imaginaries, forms of mobility and immobility, and more. The talks will provide a textured understanding of the “centre’s periphery” and invite considerations of its political futures.

All seminars in this series will be held in person only at Kellogg College (60-62 Banbury Rd, Park Town, Oxford OX2 6PN). Please arrive promptly to secure a seat.

Attendance is free, no registration is required, and all are welcome.
