The Women’s Rights Research Seminar (WRRS) at the Middle East Centre, St Antony’s College was founded in 2009 with the initial aim of directing interdisciplinary scholarly research on women in Iran. Since then, the research group has broadened to include the Middle East region. The aim of the WRRS is to present current research on the changing Middle East and how development and globalization have affected women’s rights.
The current convener is Dr Maryam Alemzadeh. Previous seminar conveners were Nazila Ghanea-Hercock, Anna Enayat, Mastan Ebtehaj, Soraya Tremayne, Camillia El-Solh and Professor Marilyn Booth.
The WRRS usually takes place twice each University of Oxford term time. All are welcome to attend. Details of the forthcoming WRRS are advertised through the Middle East Centre weekly newsletter, and as a Middle East Centre event or you can subscribe to our Women’s Rights Research Seminar emailing list (wrrs-subscribe@maillist.ox.ac.uk) and you’ll receive emails from us direct about our WRRS events.
