This webinar will outline the findings from a national study funded by the Nuffield Foundation and published by the Rees Centre, focusing on the educational and occupational pathways of care-experienced young people between 18 and 21. It will bring together quantitative analysis of national administrative data (including the LEO dataset) for the 1995/96 birth cohort with qualitative data from interviews with young people and professionals.
The key findings of the study focus on the importance of school and social care experiences in influencing the outcomes in early adulthood, as well as the role played by mental health, housing and social capital. The webinar will also offer the opportunity to discuss the implications for policy and practice in local authorities, further education and schools.
A time for Q&A will follow the presentation.
