Equity, Diversity and Belonging Event: LGBTQIA+ Research (Time TBC)

February is the UK’s LGBT+ History Month. Founded in 2005 by Schools Out in response to the repeal of Section 28, a law that forbade the promotion of homosexuality in schools, this offers a chance to celebrate LGBTQ+ history and contribute to the continued liberation of LGBTQ+ people. To recognise the importance of education in challenging prejudice against LGBTQ+ people, the Department of Education is pleased to host an LGBTQ+ Spotlight Event on 28th February. Researchers (including students) involved in work relating to LGBTQ+ people and equality are warmly invited to present on work they have completed or have in progress. Presentations will be limited to 10 minutes, with 5 minutes for questions. The theme for this year’s LGBT+ History Month is “Social Change and Activism” though we would love to hear from anyone who is conducting research related to LGBTQ+ people, even if you feel it does not fit this theme.
